The 2013 Yorktown Freedom Run will start and finish at Grafton High School on Memorial Day, May 27. There might be a slight modification due to construction.
All runners will get a T-shirt; however, only those who register with a postmark by May 18th will be assured of getting the exact size they want.
There will be bottled water and plenty of refreshments after the race. Medals are given to runners in 26 categories and cash awards are given to the top three male and female runners in the Open and Master's categories.
The race commemorates Memorial Day and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to preserve our freedom. The Freedom Run is operated by the Yorktown Rotary Club, and all proceeds go to the Yorktown Rotary Foundation to provide scholarships at local high schools and give support to a wide range of youth and community services as shown on the Community Service page.
2012 RESULTS:
337 runners entered the 2012 Memorial Day race (up from 314). John Piggott of Williamsburg won the event with a time of 17:18. Jennifer Quarles of Williamsburg was the first woman with a time 19:09. Runners were as young as 7 years and as old as 78.
